Beauty: Greaser Girls- Hair Grease, or Not?

Alright, so if you read my Fashion post about Greaser Girl Fashions then I don't have to explain what a Greaser is, if you haven't read that...I suggest you read that one then read this one so you have a better understanding because I don't want to make this one really long.

Alright, we all know how the boy greasers do their hair, they Grease it back with Pomade, Hair Grease, or Hair Gel. But the question lingering on our minds is: How Did Greaser Girls do their hair? We never saw any Greaser Girls in The Outsiders movie and they were hardly described in the book, so how do we know how to do our hair if we are a girl? Here is how:

• A Good style is the pin-up curls, or Rockabilly. If you have seen Pin-Up girls then you can do their form of hairstyle. Lots of curls, mainly. It isn't teased up like the 80's but you can pin it up or back, you can even put it in a ponytail that is curly and curl your bangs up for that rock-a-billy mixed with pin-up girl style.
• Another good one is just imitate the boys! Grease/Gel it back into a Pompadour style, you don't have to have the bump in the front but you can grease your bangs off to the side so they are still in your face but grease the sides back (Much like Johnny Cade from The Outsiders)
• You could just leave it normally because Angela Shepard (again, The Outsiders) is just described as having long hair she just leaves down and she is a Greaser Girl.
• Make up a new style! Combine any of these styles to create your own unique style! Use your imagination, you don't have to follow these tips strictly because this is just to help you understand the basic style!

Make-Up:

Just leave your make-up natural, even going without make-up is better! If you wanna be a hooker-like Greaser Girl then go ahead and cake on the make-up! If you must wear eye-popping make-up then use red lipstick with a softer color of eye shadow and you use black eyeliner with a little wing at the end, it is a very sexy look and it gives you that feminine but tough beauty that some guys prefer!

Fashion: Greaser Girlies

Okay, so this is my first fashion post and so, I decided to do a style I am really familiar with. The 1960's Greaser style! Except since this is a girl's blog for teenage girls, this is the greaser girl style.

So, you are wondering what exactly is a greaser? Well if you have read, or seen, The Outsiders then you will know exactly what a greaser is, but if you haven't... I have it described right here! Greasers are named so because they wear grease in their hair. No, not car grease but hair grease. We don't usually wear hair grease anymore but I believe it used to be called pomade or something of that sort, now we can just use hair gel. They also lived on the poor side of town, they didn't have big fancy houses or drive fancy cars like Mustangs. They usually wore jeans and T-shirts with a jacket and called it good, but you don't have to be poor to be a greaser.

Tops: Solid colored shirts and tank tops would work very well, it can be any length though, it can even be a halter top (no sleeves but may have a string that ties around your neck, these are mainly called Tube Tops). For winter I would recommend a normal T-Shirt that has short, elbow length, or long sleeves. If it is summer, then Halter Tops/Tube Tops, Tank Tops, and Short Sleeved T-Shirts work the best.

Bottoms: Usually Denim is the most preferred because it gives you that tough look, you can wear denim mini skirts, long pants (Preferably not Skinny Jeans), or Short-Shorts. Again, be smart depending on the season, if it is cold you would mainly wear pants or you could wear a skirt, only if you had leggings under it. If it is warm then probably a skirt or shorts because pants would get way too hot, but if you like pants then go ahead and wear 'em!

Shoes: High Tops, Sneakers, and Cowboy Boots work very well. You shouldn't wear Slip-ons or Flip-Flops because that just isn't the style, they mostly wear Converse or Sneakers (Not Skater shoes though!) because their simple and durable for everything since Cowboy boots are hard to run in (I've tried it before, I've ran to and from gym class wearing cowboy boots and they are a bugger to run in up and downhill!).

Jackets: Denim and Leather work extremely well, just don't wear Sweaters or Hoodies. Denim jackets give it that cowboy look, if you're into the more Western look while Leather gives you the tough, Leader look. Both work great, if you don't know which one to choose then you can switch off between the two, but you don't even need a jacket if you live in a hot climate or if you just don't feel like wearing one!

Also, Madras are not recommended for the Greaser look! In The Outsiders Socs (Short for Socials- aka the Rich Kids) are described as wearing Madras so steer clear of them!

Information and Introduction

Alright everyone! This is a Beauty and Fashion blog so I will be Updating once a week, two or more posts on one day each week and that day would be Wednesday. I will put up at least two posts every Wednesday, one about a Beauty tip and the other about a Fashion tip. Just so we all establish my name, I am Ember and this is my blog that will just be me and I have lots of cool stuff for you to read about Fashion and Beauty. My fashion tips will include but not reduced to: Styles, Cosplay, What's Hot, and DIY tips. My Beauty tips will not be reduced to but include: Make-Up, Skin Care, Hair Care, and Nail Care.

I am a natural Cosplayer so you will see some fashion tips on how to avoid cosplay disasters and how to choose cosplay, maintain cosplay, and DIY cosplay tips! If you do not know what cosplay is, then that is great because this blog will tell you! Cosplay is wordplay on Costume and Play. It makes it shorter so you don't have to say Costume Play each time you refer to Cosplay.

I might include some random Zodiac stuff like your monthly horoscope or maybe even weekly if I feel like it. I mean, it does say Zodiac Beauty and Fashion so why not add some Zodiac touches? I might also put some DIY Fashion and Beauty tips involving the Zodiac like the Zodiac sign make-up! Stuff like that so of course it will tie in with the theme of this blog!
